Rio de Janeiro - A Brazilian bus transportation company says that the death toll in the accident of one of its vehicles has risen to 14.
According to Brazil 's federal highway police, with 29 passengers on board, the bus was travelling from Itaperuna municipality in Rio de Janeiro state to Rio. It skidded off the highway near the Guapimirm town in a mountainous region. What caused the accident could not be immediately known, but the highway police department tells reporters it appears the bus brakes failed
Alvim says that 10 people, including the driver, were killed instantly and four died Tuesday at hospitals. Another 15 people were injured and remain hospitalized.
