Body of Quebecer's guide found in Nepal

MONTREAL – The body of one of the three missing men from the Sept. 23 avalanche in Nepal has been found, according to reports. It was not the body of Quebec cardiologist Dominque Ouimet. He and another French national are still missing.

Sherpas found the body of French guide Rémy Lécluse in a crevice about 600 metres from one of the camps destroyed when the avalanche roared down Mont Manaslu in the early morning hours while the climbers slept. Because of below-zero temperatures and the extreme terrain, a full-scale search with helicopters and extensive ground patrols was called off last week after any hope of finding the missing men alive had passed. Groups of climbers still attempting to ascend the peak have promised they will keep looking when they are in the area where the men disappeared.
