Jaipur, Sep 18 - Eighteen people were killed while at least 11 others were injured when four vehicles collided in Rajasthan’s Pali district Tuesday, police said.
Local residents placed the bodies of the deceased on the road for five hours demanding compensation, following which traffic came to a standstill on the highway.
According to the police, the accident occurred near Sumerpur town in the district around 5 p.m., some 350 km from Jaipur.
“Of the deceased, at least 15 persons are from a family belonging to a village near Beldhar town in Sirohi district. They were returning home after a visiting a temple,” said a senior police officer.
The officer said that a tanker rammed into a jeep, a car and an army vehicle.
“Those injured in the mishap include six army personnel. They are undergoing treatment at hospitals in Pali and Jodhpur,” the officer said.
